The Flame Lily - Gloriosa superba..

I had seen this flower for the first time on one of my trips around 3 yrs back and have fallen in love with it ever since!!

The beautiful architecture of this plant has the ability to captivate any onlooker..

Gloriosa superba is the state flower of Tamil Nadu and the national flower of Zimbabwe.
This alkaloid rich plant has been long used for the treatment of a variety of diseases in different cultures.
It is known world wide as an ornamental, medicinal and poisonous plant and also as a noxious weed in certain areas.

Shades of Purple - Passiflora sp

The blue passionflowers are also called as "Krishnakamal" in India, particularly in Maharashtra and Karnataka.

While in north India they are called as "Paanch Paandav" due to the flowers unique structure that lends itself to the interpretation along the lines of five Pandavas, the Divine Krishna at centre, and the opposing hundred Kauravas at the edges. 

Moreover the blue colour is associated with Lord Krishna as the colour of His aura.

Also the "passion" in "passion flower" refers to the passion of Jesus in Christian theology.
